Make Up Artist Magazine, Issue 66, page 22, announces the release of Transformations!: Face painting book provides colorful history
In the recently published Transformations! The Story Behind the Painted Faces (Kryolan), New York-based performer and visual artist Christopher Agostino reveals worldwide face painting traditions — all of them significant sources of inspiration for face painters and for make-up artists in general. These traditions include the personal face painting of the Sudan’s Southeast Nuba and the character-driven face apinting used in Japan’s Kabuki theater. Insect and animal patterns are discussed; there’s a marvelous chapter called “Snakes, Dragons & Things With Teeth.” The book is replete with diverse photos and vibrant colors and patterns. Transformations! has also been added to their marketplace at www.makeupbooks.com
